Paris Baguette, a global bakery brand under South Korea’s SPC Group, has launched a regional manufacturing hub in Nusajaya Tech Park, Johor, Malaysia, to strengthen its presence in the growing halal food market.

The new facility will serve as a key production and distribution centre, targeting Muslim consumers across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.

With a US$56 million investment, the Johor plant features advanced production capabilities, producing up to 100 million bakery products annually.

A major highlight is its halal certification, ensuring compliance with stringent global food safety and quality standards. This certification aligns with Malaysia’s reputation as a leader in halal food production, further enhancing consumer trust.

SPC Group’s Chairman, Hur Young-in, emphasised the plant’s strategic importance, stating, “With our Johor facility, we aim to bring wholesome flavours to two billion Muslim consumers across Southeast Asia, Middle East, and beyond, fostering stronger connections and cultural appreciation through food.”

The expansion aligns with SPC Group’s broader strategy to tap into the $2.5 trillion halal market. By leveraging Malaysia’s halal ecosystem, the company aims to distribute its products more effectively across international markets, including planned entries into Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

As Malaysia continues to position itself as a global halal hub, investments like Paris Baguette’s Johor facility further solidify the nation’s role in shaping the future of the halal food industry.
